Overview & Mission
Since 1995, the Viola Startzman Free Clinic (VSFC) has provided high-quality comprehensive health and dental care, wellness education, medications, and related health services at no charge to qualifying patients. To obtain care at the VSFC, you must be a Wayne County resident, be uninsured (including Medicaid and Medicare), and meet household income guidelines.
The Mission of the VSFC: “The Viola Startzman Free Clinic serves, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect, lower income uninsured residents of Wayne County.” This statement guides the actions of each VSFC employee, volunteer, and board of trustees member every day.
The Clinic in Numbers
The VSFC treated 2,303 patients in 2012 for a total of 10,674 patient visits. In addition, the VSFC has a well-established referral system in place with over fifty local specialists who treat VSFC patients at their facilities at low or no cost to the patient. In 2012 alone, the VSFC made 1,764 such referral appointments for medical issues including cardiology, gastroenterology, and ophthalmology, to name a few. We are grateful for these valuable connections in the medical community which allow us to provide patients with high-quality, comprehensive care. |
