The third largest free clinic in Ohio and one of over 1,700 free clinics across the nation, the VSFC is open to patients five days a week, and is operated by staff members and a large team of community-minded volunteers with diverse backgrounds. Each week, the VSFC offers three walk-in medical clinics where patients are treated by volunteer medical professionals on a first come, first served basis. In addition, the Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) and the nursing staff treat patients on an appointment basis who require follow-up care from a walk-in clinic and/or ongoing management of chronic health conditions. In collaboration with physicians including the Medical Director, the CRNP is qualified to assess patients, make diagnoses, prescribe medications, and arrange specialist referrals as needed. Support for the CRNP position is made possible by generous grants from several foundations. The CRNP, medical staff and volunteers work together to provide patients with necessary medications and education on their proper use, as well as laboratory services and additional offsite testing as needed. |

| Be a VIOLA STARTZMAN FREE CLINIC Business Partner! |
The VSFC recently introduced a “Corporate Partner” sponsorship model. Designed to attract support from local businesses both small and large, the Corporate Partner idea was modeled after a similar concept used at the Volunteers in Medicine Free Clinic of Hilton Head Island, S.C. The VSFC thanks its first Level I ($5,000) sponsors: Dunlap Community Hospital, and Wooster Community Hospital. For information on becoming a Corporate Partner, click here or contact Rebekah Shipper at 330-262-2500 extension 104. Thank you! |
